PermaLip is a high-quality, FDA-approved, soft yet solid implant, comprised of silicone elastomers. They feel soft, natural and produce a smooth surface that contours the shape of the lips.
This surgical procedure is perfect for those who want to avoid repeated lip injections and are looking for a permanent solution. Unlike painful injections that can make the lips look fuller, these implants are a permanent solution. PermaLip is safe, and anyone who wants fuller lips is a suitable candidate for this lip augmentation procedure.
PermaLip implants will not shift and are solid, so the implant cannot leak or drip silicone. The movement of your lips doesn’t become restricted after you have these implants inserted, and there is no scarring. The implants are available in various widths and lengths. Different PermaLip sizes ensure that every patient can get the perfect individualized implant to achieve the look they desire. The procedure can also be completed in as little as 30 minutes to an hour.
The PermaLip lip augmentation procedure is performed using a local anesthetic. Our board-certified plastic surgeon will create two tiny incisions at the corner of your mouth where the silicone implant will then go through a path/tunnel. Dr. Homas or Dr. Brostrom will center and position the implant(s) to ensure even results. When both lips are done, sutures are used for the incision sites which will absorb naturally over time.
The area worked on will be swollen and tender after the procedure with little to no bruising. Although you will probably experience discomfort for two or more days, the prescribed pain medication should ease the discomfort.
Bruising and swelling can take up to 3 months to fully go down. Although, you can go back to work after a few days. For two weeks, sensitivity to light and moderate pressure may be experienced in the lips.
