United States Military Academy

At West Point, Dr. Homas earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, graduating in 1983. Still an athlete, he earned varsity letters in wrestling and pistol (it’s good to have a steady hand!). He consistently ranked among the top 5% of his class each year, earning him recognition as a “Star Man.” He was the top-ranking student of his class entering his senior year and was selected Commander of Cadet Basic Training, also known as “Beast Barracks.” That same year, he commanded the 1st Regiment of the U.S. Corps of Cadets, further developing the strengths and leadership of his early life.

Medical Training and Advanced Degrees

Dr. Homas was selected as one of the 2% of his West Point graduating class selected to go to medical school. He attended the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, Maryland. During his first year, he served as class president. After medical school, he completed an intense five-year General Surgery residency training program, followed by a two-year Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency training program, both in Aurora, Colorado. He then completed a fellowship in Hand Surgery at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C..  Dr. Homas went on to become board-certified in General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as Surgery of the Hand. He additionally holds a Master’s degree in Military Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and is a Command and General Staff College graduate.

Transition to Private Practice

After retiring from the Army in 2017, Dr. Homas and Tanja Homas, his wife of more than 30 years, founded New Image Plastic Surgery.  He wanted to continue working on a highly performing team that changes people’s lives for the better. New Image Plastic Surgery was founded around a patient-first philosophy and is dedicated to providing safe, beautiful, and personalized service to each individual. Dr. Homas is well known amongst his patients for his personable bedside manner and exceptional surgical talent, helping his patients feel more comfortable and confident in their skin with highly personalized treatments. He takes time getting to know each patient, taking their concerns and personal preferences into account when determining how to serve them best.
