Juvéderm is an injectable gel to correct signs of aging in the face. This dermal filler is hyaluronic-acid based, meaning it attracts and holds water under the skin to smooth out lines, plump lips, and restore age-related volume loss.

Who is a Good Candidate?

Individuals who are noticing signs of aging such as lines and folds in the lower face, volume loss in the cheeks or mid-face, or thinning lips or vertical lips lines can often benefit from the Juvéderm line of products. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not receive Juvéderm fillers, as it is not known how this filler will affect the unborn baby. The best way to determine if this treatment is right for you is through a consultation with Dr. Homas or Dr. Brostrom.

The Treatment

Topical numbing cream is applied to the areas where the injections will be given. Juvéderm products labeled with “XC” contain lidocaine to help create a comfortable treatment experience, during the injection. During your Juvéderm procedure, a very small, fine needle or cannula will be used to inject the filler into the treatment area(s). Treatment is quick, lasting about 30 minutes, depending on the number of targeted areas.

Recovery and Results

Results from Juvéderm products are immediately visible. Results typically last 6 -18 months, depending on the formula used, but may last longer in some patients. Mild swelling, tenderness, redness, and firmness at the injection site may occur but should resolve with time.
