What is NeoGraft Hair restoration?

NeoGraft hair restoration uses an automated hair transplant system to harvest hair follicles, one at a time, using a Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method. Hair follicles are removed from the scalp and placed in areas where balding has occurred. This elegant procedure is virtually scarless, virtually painless, completely safe, and more than 95% effective.

Who is a Candidate?

Hair loss can affect both men and women and can be caused by age, heredity, or a medical condition. Candidates for NeoGraft hair restoration must be non-smoking, healthy individuals with sufficient hair on the back of the scalp. Having realistic goals for treatment and an optimistic outlook can also help you be a successful candidate.

The Procedure

NeoGraft hair restoration is gentle, safe, and will involve very little discomfort.  Unlike the older “strip method” of hair restoration, NeoGraft’s individual follicle transplantation process results in no linear scar across the back of the scalp. NeoGraft hair restoration will require two parts: Harvesting and placement.

The first part of Neograft hair restoration involves harvesting the hair follicles. This is routinely done under local anesthesia and oral sedation.  During the FUE method, the NeoGraft device uses a motorized punch that gently rotates around the hair graft. Next, the device uses gentle suction to slide the follicle out. The follicle is removed smoothly, with no pulling or twisting that could damage the hair follicle. The harvest sites are so small that they close on their own, and do not require any sutures. You can take a break after this portion of the procedure or go straight into the second part.

The second part of NeoGraft hair restoration involves placement of the follicles. Patients are seated in an upright position and a local anesthetic is applied to the scalp. The follicles are then replanted into the area of balding, creating a more youthful, natural hairline. The amount of time this takes will depend on the number of follicles you are having placed.

With NeoGraft hair restoration, patients can resume normal activity within the first few days. After about a week, the follicles will have safely rooted under the scalp. During the first seven to ten days, you might notice scabs where the grafts were placed. Results will continue to become more noticeable over the next several months as your hair grows, becoming thicker and fuller.
